Girls Travel
Baltimore Youth Hockey Club (BYHC) is excited to offer a range of opportunities for girls hockey players in the region. Final team placements and division declarations will be determined following tryouts, based on skill level and turnout. All girls travel will compete in the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL) and/or the Mid-Atlantic Women's Hockey Association (MAWHA). For questions or inquiries, please send an email to GirlsHockey@byhc.org.
Ages
We offer girls-only teams at the 12U and 19U levels and continue to grow year over year. With increasing interest and participation, there is a strong opportunity to field a 14U/16U team this upcoming season if registration numbers allow.
At the 8U level, girls participate in our co-ed Mites program, with additional girls-only jamborees and tournaments scheduled throughout the season to ensure they also experience the excitement and camaraderie of girls hockey.
When
Our season begins with pre-season skills sessions in August and concludes in late February or early March, depending on league playoff schedules. Throughout the off-season, we also offer free girls-only summer skate sessions to all girls in the region.
All teams participate in the annual Ponytail Tournament, hosted by BYHC, typically held on or around St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Games take place in Laurel, MD and Reisterstown, MD, making it a fun and festive way to end the season all together.
Where
The Baltimore Stars utilize Reisterstown Sportsplex in Baltimore County and Mt. Pleasant Ice Arena in Baltimore City for practices and home games.
Practices
While practice days, time, and frequency vary by age division, teams will have at least two practices per week.
Games
The number of games per weekend will vary throughout the season and is also dependent on the team's participation in multiple leagues. A player should anticipate one game each weekend during the regular season.
Jerseys
Jersey orders are placed in late May to ensure delivery in early August. Players keep their jersey numbers throughout their career with BYHC.
Extra Costs
The base fee includes participation in the CBHL, roughly 20 games and three tournaments (including the Ponytail Tournament). Teams may elect, collectively, to participate in additional leagues or tournaments for a nominal fee.
Crossbar
After you register for the season, please download the Crossbar app for your smart phone. You will use the same login credentials that you used during registration. Please be sure that notifications are turned on for this app. All schedules and most team communication will be done through Crossbar.
