Jenny Hunt
For more than two decades, Jenny Hunt has dedicated her career to serving underserved populations in inner-city classrooms. A recipient of the Longbrake Scholarship at The College of Wooster, she graduated with honors in 2003. While working full-time as an educator in Youngstown, Ohio, she earned a Master of Education in School Counseling from Westminster College and achieved Master Teacher Designation in 2010.
In 2023, Jenny was nominated for the Arts Everyday Fine Arts Educator of the Year Award and also joined Ebert Educational Consulting as an associate while continuing her work as a dedicated educator with Baltimore City Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has consistently been selected by school administrators to serve in leadership roles, including facilitating professional development for colleagues and supporting the development, implementation, and assessment of measurable academic goals and student learning objectives.
Jenny’s involvement with the Baltimore Youth Hockey Club began in 2023 when her son started playing 8U recreational hockey. Watching his passion for and love of the game grow reinforced her belief in the significant benefits children and adolescents gain through participation in youth sports. As her son’s commitment to hockey expanded into travel hockey, Jenny’s involvement with the club also continued to grow.
Over the past year, Jenny has regularly attended the Baltimore Youth Hockey Club Board meetings to learn more about the organization and explore opportunities to support the club, and its families. She volunteered throughout the Puck Drop event, greeting families, assisting with sales, and answering questions. Jenny also attended web platform presentations this winter and provided feedback on prospective vendors. Additionally, this spring she supported an informational session for families transitioning from recreational hockey to travel hockey, and most recently, participated in discussion focused on fundraising initiatives for the upcoming season.
If elected to the BYHC board, Jenny hopes to serve in a supportive role wherever needed while continuing to deepen her understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures. She is committed to helping ensure the continuity within the Board and supporting leadership.
Matt Good
Going into our third year with BYHC, the club has become a meaningful part of our family’s life. My wife, Kate, and I live in Monkton with our two boys, Brooks and Wesley, who participate across the travel and rec programs. We’ve seen firsthand the positive impact BYHC can have on kids both on and off the ice, and I’d love the opportunity to give something back.
I’d approach the role by focusing on the areas where I can be most helpful. Professionally, I’m COO of Savano Capital, a Baltimore-based private equity firm. My background spans investing, finance, operations, and corporate development. I would hope to put some of that experience to use in practical ways, whether that’s communication and engagement, resource allocation, process improvements, or broader organizational needs as the club continues to grow.
Our boys love playing for the Stars, and I want to help keep that experience strong as the club evolves. I’d be happy to contribute wherever I can be useful in supporting a strong future for the club.
Michael Bouyea
My name is Michael Bouyea, and this will be my 10th year as a Baltimore Stars parent. My son Hayden, 17 years old, played on Stars travel teams for eight years, from 10U through 16U. My son Brennan, eight years old, starts his third year of Stars travel this fall, as a 10U player.
While my kids (my two boys and their older sister) have tried just about every youth sport imaginable, hockey has been a consistent favorite because of the camaraderie it fosters between players, and the strong bonds it builds among families. Although I have yet to try my hand at coaching hockey, I have coached a wide range of sports over the years, including soccer, baseball, and tennis (even a season of girls’ lacrosse!) – doing so has given me a first-hand appreciation of the significant role that sports play in kids’ lives, and in “best practices” (i.e., what works vs. what doesn’t) in the administration of youth sports programs.
Regarding BYHC, I have involved myself with the club in several different ways, mostly behind the scenes. I see Board membership as a means to fulfill my responsibility to step forward and do my part to help ensure the future of a program that has been so important to my family. I am open-minded about the ways in which I might add value to the Board, and I look forward to exploring those opportunities.
Elysia Mahjoub
My family and I have been part of the Baltimore Youth Hockey Club for the past three seasons, and it has truly become a meaningful part of our lives. My son is a first-year 10U player with the Stars, and watching his growth has given me a deep appreciation for the positive role BYHC plays in developing not just hockey skills, but teamwork, confidence, and character. We also have a five-year-old who is still discovering whether hockey might be his path, which has helped me see the organization through the eyes of families at many different stages.
Before our oldest started hockey, we knew very little about the sport. What drew us in—and continues to keep us involved—is not only the game itself, but the welcoming and supportive community that surrounds it. Over the years, BYHC has come to feel like an extended family, and the relationships built through the rink, teams, and shared experiences are what make this organization so special.
Alongside being a hockey parent, I learned to play hockey as an adult and remain active in local adult leagues and charity travel tournaments. These experiences have reinforced how uniquely hockey brings people together across ages and skill levels.
I also bring prior board experience from the Mid Maryland Triathlon Club, along with time spent coaching youth sports, organizing leagues and tournaments, and supporting teams as a manager.
If elected, my goal is simple: to support the board and BYHC leadership in whatever ways are most helpful, ensuring the Baltimore Stars remain a place where kids thrive, families feel supported, and our hockey community continues to grow in a positive and inclusive way.
Dave Kurtz
I have been involved in hockey at the collegiate level for almost 30 years. I began as an equipment manager at Liberty University while attending the university. During my time with the program, I advanced to the role of Assistant Coach. After moving to North Carolina for work, I served as Head Coach at the University of North Carolina for 2 years, then at North Carolina State University. When I returned to Maryland, where I grew up in Northern Baltimore County, I served as an Assistant Coach at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
Starting in 2004, I began my relationship with the American Collegiate Hockey Association. Beginning as a broadcaster for their National Tournament, I have served in many roles, including Regional Coordinator, Commissioner at both the Division 3 and Division 2 levels, Assistant Director of Hockey Operations, and now as Director of Hockey Operations.
I never got the chance to play hockey growing up because it wasn't readily available in my area. I want to invest in ensuring that young people have the opportunity to play this incredible sport, both as they grow up and in adulthood.
