2022-2023 Baltimore Girls Ice Hockey Season

The BYHC Girls Program has announced program offerings for the 2022-2023 ice hockey season! Check out all the offerings this season available to girls’ hockey players. 

Free Summer Girls Night Out Hockey Sessions

The Baltimore Stars girls program hosts monthly skates throughout the summer at no cost. It's for all girls (in the program or not) to get on the ice for skills and games. It is a great chance to knock the rust off before the season starts, meet with friends, and connect with coaches.

2022 Summer Ice Schedule:

  • May 21, 3-4pm
  • June 18, 3-4pm
  • July 23, 3-4pm
  • August 20, 3-4pm

All sessions are at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

2022-2023 Baltimore Girls Ice Hockey Season

The Baltimore Stars are excited to offer free and open registration for Girls Hockey players this upcoming season. As part of registering with BYHC, the following opportunities will be offered to our female athletes.  

  • BYHC Girls Hockey Registration - Free for 2022-23
  • Weekly Girl’s Hockey Ice Time available to all age groups
  • Formulation of teams for Non-League Schedule (Minimum of 6-8 Games)
  • 2-3 tournaments
  • Ponytail Tournament Team(s)
  • 8U/10U Girls Team to the Beach Bash
  • Jamboree Options
  • Experienced and committed coaching staff

Registration opens for the 2022-2023 season by June 1!

Players of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate.

Financial Aid Scholarship Program

Ice Hockey is an expensive game and is often not easily afforded by everyone. As a result, a financial aid scholarship program has been established. Apply now. 

GIRLS PROGRAM COACHING PROFILES

COACH AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR James Emerick

James is a Level 4 USAH certified coach who has coached youth hockey in the area for over a decade. He has been head coach of the BYHC girls 12U travel team and assistant coach for multiple BYHC co-ed travel teams. James is passionate about girls’ hockey and creating an exciting, rewarding, and safe environment to help our athletes have fun and grow.

Coach and Pony Tail Tournament Director Holly Summers

A Maryland native, Holly and her daughter Samantha (a former forward at Penn State) developed a love for hockey after watching the movie "Miracle." She is currently a Level V Coach for BYHC. Holly has coached girls', boys, women’s and co-ed hockey teams, having served as Assistant and Head Coach of the Frederick U12, U16 and U19's teams (2006-2008), the Mt. Hebron High School team (2004-2009) and Howard County Junior Varsity team (2007-2010), Susquehanna Rapids U19 and U14 Travel 2008-2010 and Rapids Blue 2009-2011. Women’s level C MAWHA Killer Bees 2011-2012 She also was the coordinator of the Maryland Scholastic Hockey League Academic All Star Program (2008-2011). She has coached and run the Rapids travel program and the BYHC Girls Program (2012-2015) and currently continues to coach with BYHC.

Holly was a competitive gymnast as an undergraduate at George Washington University, and she taught and organized gymnastic programs for elementary through high school students in Montgomery County from 1976-1986. She earned her DDS degree from Maryland in 1985 and ran her own private practice for 20 years. She retired from dentistry in 2006, and currently works part time as a computer programmer and summer organizer of undergraduate research at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Holly is an avid downhill skier and mountain biker and is currently the Maryland State Cross Country Mountain Bike Champion in her age group (sport category) and placed 5th nationally in 2009. Her strong interests are conditioning and skating.

Coach Julia Roderick

Julia Rodricks is a Baltimore native who grew up playing for BYHC and the former girls’ team, the Susquehanna Rapids. She went on to play NCAA DIII hockey at Connecticut College where she earned her BFA in Psychology and Architecture. Julia recently completed her Master's in Community and Regional Planning at University of Maryland and now works as the Coordinator of External Affairs at a Baltimore non-profit. She is a certified Level 4 USA hockey coach.

Coach Brenna Blount

Brenna Blount grew up playing for BYHC and the former girls’ team, the Susquehanna Rapids. She began coaching in 2013 and is a certified Level 4 USA Hockey coach. Brenna graduated from NDMU earning a Bachelor’s and Master's of Teaching. After working as a special educator, she founded her own specialized educational services company and currently serves families all over the Baltimore area.
