Baltimore Youth Hockey Club is proud to announce our 2013/2014 season award winners. The Wallen, Cornbrooks, Travel MVP and Rec MVP will be awarded their respective trophies, which can be viewed in the trophy case at RTOWN. All 10 winners will receive gift certificates from Total Hockey. Coach Boe will present these awards at the Annual meeting April 9 at 7 pm at Mt. Pleasant. All award winners are asked to please be in attendance. Thank you again to all of our players, coaches, parents and volunteers.

Eric Wallen Award: Will Hershon

A sportsmanship award. It is given to the player who handles him or herself in a manner that would honor the memory of Eric Wallen. Not an MVP or talent-based award, it recognizes leadership, sportsmanship, character, devotion to hockey and to team. Frequently has been given to a last-year Midget player who has demonstrated great effort and sportsmanship during his BYHC career. Will was the undisputed leader of our U18 team which went to the league championship for the 3rd year in a row, just falling short of the title. Will is a graduating senior from high school and played his entire youth career with BYHC.

Bruce Cornbrooks Award: Jeff Solomon

In honoring the late BYHC president, this award recognizes the BYHC Volunteer of the Year, the person whose volunteer efforts as coach, manager, board member, active parent, etc. have done the most to maintain and improve BYHC during the past year. Jeff has organized and run the Pony Tail tournament for many years....a great success. Thank-you Jeff!!

Travel MVP: Quinn Armstrong

The travel-division player who has made the single most significant contribution to his or her team and to the level of quality of BYHC's travel program with devotion to practice and to games, development of his or her skills, and contributions to the team's efforts on the ice. The boy or girl who, with displays of character as much as talent, exemplifies youth travel hockey at its best. Quinn helped lead the PWUA team to the Silver Stick finals and also the CBHL championship this season! Congratulations Quinn!!

Ryan Potler Award/Rec MVP: Austin Foster

The rec-division player who has made the single most significant contribution to his or her team and to the level of quality of BYHC's rec program with devotion to practice and to games, development of his or her skills, and contributions to the team's efforts on the ice. The boy or girl who, with displays of character as much as talent, exemplifies youth rec hockey at its best. Backboning the Bantam Rec team all season long. Austin was most deservedly nominated and awarded our Rec MVP as the back stop to his team. Austin was in his first year for BYHC and an important year that was for his team!

Travel Coach of Year: Mike Donnellan, Brad Powell

Two outstanding and passionate coaches whose teams have excelled under their leadership leading to now multiple tournament and league championships. Thank-you Mike and Brad.

Rec Coach of Year: Mike Dahan

Mike Dahan has been a BYHC coach for 4 seasons. This was the first year though, that he served as a non parent head coach. Mike's knowledge, dedication and effort have been greatly appreciated for years, but even more so after he decided to stay coaching even after his son had moved on from our program. Thank you Mike!

Travel Unsung Hero: Justin Bell

Justin is receiving our unsung hero award for his leadership and ability that helped to guide our U16 Travel team to a play off birth. Justin was in his first year with BYHC and his contributions were most recognizable to his coaches and the team.

Rec Unsung Hero: Ben Smith

Ben is our Rec unsung hero. Ben gave 100% effort every game. He rarely received the glory as a goal scorer, as he was the wall of our Peewee Rec defensive core! Congrats on a great season Ben!

Most Improved Player: Jude Lynch

A new award this year and our inaugural winner is Jude Lynch. Jude is very deserving of our most improved player club wide. Jude's determination over the course of the year excelled him to become the offensive threat of our Squirt Rec team. Great job Jude!

*** The Rapids program has elected not to award any individual awards again this year but to recognize and thank all the girls on the teams for another great year !!
